Day 162 ~ Christmas Eve ~

Its been a busy Christmas but spending it with family has made it a very memorable year. I have been falling behind on this blog but sometimes life just takes over. There are lots of new experiences ahead in the New Year so I hope that you will continue to follow. I hope to make more time for photography and continue to learn and grow. Starting in January I have signed up for another photography course focusing on HDR and panorama so hopefully new and improved images to come.

Thanks to the few followers of this blog. Cheers to a year of new experiences and spending it with the people you love most!

While on a family vacation in Las Vegas I went to Springs Preserve and took a hike through the beautiful desert. In this image you can see the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino in the background.

Day 157 ~ Winter Season ~

I am definately NOT a winter person so it is difficult for me to get out in the cold and walk through piles of snow to get a picture. But I was feeling inspired by the first "real" snowfall today and decided to toughen up and go shoot. I'm not really sure if I got the white balance correct on this but by the end of winter I hope to get some good snowy weather images.

I have wanted to get all 4 seasons captured at this beautiful spot in the botanical gardens and unfortunately the fall leaves didn't turn colours like I had hoped.

Day 154 ~ Knit Project ~

I've started to knit a coffee mug cozy for a xmas gift this year. It's hard for me to finish a knitting project so hopefully I can get this completed before its too late. Look out for the finished product soon....I hope:)

Day 153 ~ Strong Man Competition ~

Dawn and Aidan visited this past weekend and we went to the arcade for the afternoon. This pic is of Aidan showing us how strong he is.

Day 152 ~ Testing High ISO ~

I haven't had much time to play around with my new camera yet but the other night I tested out using a high ISO indoors and later at night. The high ISO worked really well and isn't grainy so thats great! Since the weather has changed and I don't see the daylight often it really has put a damper on my photography. Lots of new adventures coming up soon with great potential for getting out and shooting so I'm looking forward to that.

Day 148 ~ It's Beginning To Look a Lot like Xmas ~

Ryan and I went for a walk down by the falls tonight to see all the lights display. I can't believe its Christmas season already. This image was taken with my new Nikon D90 camera that I bought recently and absolutely LOVE! There is a lot more to learn now with this camera and hopefully my photography skills will continue to improve. I miss my online photography course because it gets me out shooting more but I have a travel photography course this weekend to look forward too!

Day 147 ~ Welland Country ~

On my way home from Toronto today I stopped in Welland looking for a waterfall but came across this instead. This image is 3 photos combined together for a High Dynamic Range. The birds in the water were floating so this created a ghost effect which I actually don't mind.

Day 146 ~ Raindrops on Roses ~

I went to the botanical gardens today, I have been so busy I haven't gone in a while. It was a cloudy rainy day today not the best for pics but the flowers looked beautiful covered in raindrops.

We went back to the hiking trail on Sunday to try to find the main falls but we couldn't find it again but its a gorgeous trail. The lower part of this forest is exactly where we got lost in the woods the other night in the dark.

Day 141 ~ Rockway Falls ~

Ryan and I went out for a hike to Rockway Falls today at sunset to get some pics. We didn't make it to the main falls because the sun was going down quickly. We got lost in the woods on our way out and the sun was going down quickly and we could hear coyotes howling in the distance. At this point I'm totally freaking out and am starting to feel like I'm in a horror film. Luckily we heard cars in the distance and followed the sounds and found our way to the highway. It was quite the adventure to get these images but well worth it in the end...although next time I think I will leave well before sunset.
